The crew of The Rookie has issued an apology for the sharp cliffhanger ending to Season 8. Fans had been left in suspense after the final scene dropped out. Creator Alexi Hawley confirmed at a fan event that Season 9's opening will be extended above the usual length. Nathan Fillion revealed that filming for Season Nine gets underway on the fifth of August. Also, a preview of a new scene kicking off the new season was post online before the new season.
