Nine crew members from China were taken into custody for illegal fishing in waters near Yeonpyeong Island.

Coast guard officers were given an official citation for their work. They had forced out illegal Chinese crab boats in the area.

On a separate matter, a prawn fisher from West Vancouver was fined $5,000. The fine came about because he dropped traps near glass sponge reefs.

Officials have announced there will be no fishing for coho salmon in Lake Washington. The closure applies to anglers in that lake.

The Wuchang fish industry is expanding its reach too.
